Infrastructure

The firm acts across the aviation, oil and gas, transport, and utilities sectors, working on matters as niche as wind farm developments. The practice also advises on the property finance aspects of these developments, including those with a publicly funded element, while our dedicated litigation team deals with contentious matters. The firm also has market-leading expertise in easements and wayleaves and is often consulted on rights to run pipework through neighbouring land, which are vital to the operation of our clients’ businesses.

Clients in this sector include GE, Liverpool Airport, Peel Group, and World Fuel Services.

Recent work includes:

  • Advising on aspects of a proposed redevelopment worth up to £50m of an active airfield. Our advice ensured Civil Aviation Authority compliance, and the protection of the airfield’s operation and income stream until development takes place.

  • Advising on the relocation of an oil and gas group’s infrastructure and pipework to enable construction of a power station worth hundreds of millions of pounds. This required regularising easements and consideration of complex intra-group arrangements.

  • Negotiating a £200,000 release of restrictive covenants over neighbouring land.

  • The lease of an aircraft hangar at an international airport, including dealing with security issues at the airport.
