Land Law Cements Place in UK's Legal Elite

Land Law LLP has cemented its place among the North West's leading commercial property law specialists.

The firm has been named once more in the top tier of real estate law firms in the region by the prestigious Legal 500 rankings.

Founder and Managing Partner Angus Whyte has been described as "exceptional", while fellow Partner Helen Davidson has been praised for her "wealth of experience".

Property litigation Consultant Partner Steven Jennings has been cited as a leading individual, with Legal 500 referring to his being “an excellent lawyer, manager and litigator” who is “always on the top of his game”.

In addition, Partner Nicola Jackson has been identified as a "Next Generation Partner".

Angus has described the outcome as further evidence of the firm's continued progress.

"These rankings indicate the breadth of expertise and talent which we have succeeded in drawing together in support of clients engaged in a wide range of activities.

"We have established a culture within the firm not only of giving of our absolute best to ensure that clients achieve their objectives but in helping colleagues realise their potential.

"Our approach to flexible working and our investment in technologies to allow us to be more capable in dealing with a growing and varied caseload have seen us made significant strides over the course of the last year.

"We believe that we have put very firm foundations in place to enable us to make further advances in the years to come."

The Legal 500 is based on detailed analysis by its team of researchers, including thousands of interviews with clients and other industry leaders, including the other ranked law firms and barristers.

It serves as a resource both for companies and private individuals to make "an informed choice" about the capabilities of solicitors in the UK operating across a range of different legal disciplines and is relied upon by more than four million users each year.

Legal 500 has paid particular credit for Land Law's ability showing "great responsiveness and dedication to each project" and "deep expertise" across a broad caseload which covers development, investment transactions, property finance and management.

"The team," it has concluded, "has a collaborative approach to transactions and...a good understanding of client objectives".

During the 12-months considered by Legal 500, Land Law was variously involved in advising the developer De Trafford Estates on projects transforming the skyline in heart of Manchester city centre and the acquisition of property by Quorum Estates and the Alice Jackson Trust. The litigation team also tackled issues varying from trespass by “free runners” to water damage claims involving hotels, restaurants and retailers.

Earlier this year, Angus revealed how a “substantial” six-figure investment on a major new scheme had propelled Land Law into the ranks of the region’s most digitally advanced businesses.

It saw the creation of a unique cloud-based system which has “speeded up and simplified” the management of its caseload and accounting operations.

The period also saw Altrincham-headquartered firm - which works with some of the UK's biggest residential and commercial property developers and landowners - complete a record £265 million worth of deals on behalf of clients.
